Where is male breast reduction surgery done?

Surgery to correct gynecomastia is done as an outpatient procedure at our private ambulatory surgical facility typically under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.

What can I expect after male breast reduction surgery?

A compression dressing will be applied after surgery to minimize swelling and support the new chest contour as it heals. A drainage tube may be placed under the skin to wick away excess blood that may collect: the drain is temporary but speeds the healing process. You will need to have a family member or friend care for you for the first 24 hours after surgery. Initially, you will have some discomfort which is controlled with medication. You will have limitations to your activity level which you will want to discuss at the consultation. Healing will continue for several weeks as swelling resolves. Scars created by any incisions made will continue to fade, but they are permanent.

Male breast reduction patients travel to our Eugene, OR, practice from Roseburg, Florence, Salem, and Bend to have Dr. Jewell or Dr. Najafian perform their procedures. Request a consultation online to meet with one of our surgeons, or call his office at (541) 683-3234 to schedule an appointment.
