The Liquid Facelift a Non-Invasive Facial Rejuvenation.

There is a tremendous interest in non-surgical treatments for facial rejuvenation. The Liquid Facelift is a non-surgical treatment for patients who have facial volume loss and minimal facial skin laxness. Interestingly, facial fat exists in discreet compartments within the facial/cheek area. Some individuals tend to lose facial volume in midlife and seek treatment.

Dr. Mark Jewell has extensive experience with the use of facial fillers to correct facial volume loss and improve contour.  He has been involved as a principal investigator in FDA-approved facial volumization research with hyaluronic acid-type tissue fillers (HA).  Currently, Allergan has achieved FDA approval to market its VolumaXC HA tissue filler to restore facial volume.  Dr. Jewell prefers HA fillers (Restylane, Perlane, Juve’derm, and VolumaXC) because HA fillers are safe and predictable.

Before and After

The Liquid Facelift uses larger volumes of filler to add facial volume. Typically, a patient requires around 4cc of volumizing filler to improve facial contour.  Injections are performed in Dr. Jewell’s medical spa under comfortable topical anesthesia.  Some swelling and minor bruising resolves within a few days.  Patients report that facial volume and natural contour is maintained for greater than 12 months.  Patients also like the concept of using HA fillers that do not require a liposuction procedure to harvest fat for grafting.  One other benefit for HA fillers is that they are reversible with the injection of an enzyme (hyaluronidase) to dissolve HA fillers if necessary.

Dr. Jewell can use the Canfield Vectra 3-D imaging device to assess facial volume and monitor the result from the liquid facelift over time.  This imaging tool is useful to help educate patients regarding decisions to use tissue fillers in the facial region.

The Liquid Facelift is an excellent choice for patients seeking a non-surgical alternative and can be used to maintain facial volume and contour following a surgical facelift.
