Liposuction: A Diet and Exercise Supplement

Working out, eating right, and leading a healthy lifestyle cannot always keep certain problem areas of the body as toned as you’d like. Areas such as the abdomen, love handles, hips, and thighs are some of the places that could still carry excess fat regardless of fitness level. At our Eugene practice, liposuction can supplement the active lifestyle of our patients by removing stubborn fat from these trouble spots.

During a consultation, Dr. Jewell listens to you describe your cosmetic goals and then works with you to create a surgical plan that is realistic and safe. With years of experience performing liposuction procedures, Dr. Jewell can recommend the approach best-suited for your concerns. He specializes in a surgical technique called VASERlipo®, which uses ultrasonic energy to break up fatty tissue. This technique creates less trauma to tissue than traditional liposuction, which requires the surgeon to manually loosen fat by vigorously moving the cannula (the thin tube that suctions fat from the body).

VASERlipo is minimally invasive and produces more extensive results than the traditional method. It can remove large amounts of stored fat while preserving the surrounding tissue. Because it is gentler than manual liposuction, there is a faster recovery. Recovery is also dependent on your body and the area treated. Dr. Jewell recommends taking around 4 to 7 days off work. Typically, bruising gradually diminishes 2 weeks after surgery.

Liposuction can be a great way to get rid of those trouble spots that just won’t budge, and with the incorporation of VASERlipo into the world of plastic surgery, there has been no better time to give yourself the body you deserve. Request a consultation to find out more about your options.
