This was a first time presentation of the 12-month outcome data in a FDA-approved, multi-center breast reconstruction protocol. According to Dr. Jewell, Seri Scaffold offers patients additional options for reinforcement of the lower breast region during a reconstruction following mastectomy, besides cadaver or porcine-origin tissue known as ADM (acelluar dermal matrix). Outcome data presented demonstrated good clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and an acceptable rate of complications.

Dr. Jewell traveled to Nottingham, UK to attend the ORBS (Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery) meeting that was organized by Drs. Douglas Macmillan and Steven McCulley. Dr. Jewell is pictured with Dr. Macmillan at the meeting.

The ORBS meeting discusses the latest techniques and treatment options for breast cancer. Attendees from Europe, Scandinavia, and the Middle East were present for the three day meeting.

European surgeons often work together with regards to an oncologic surgeon and plastic surgeon teaming up to provide the breast cancer patient the best care. Dr. Jewell also believes that a combination of working closely with colleagues in general surgery provides great patient care and the best outcome of breast reconstruction.
