The Buzz About Ultherapy® | Part 1 of 3Updated July 12, 2017
Eugene plastic surgery patients are buzzing about Ultherapy! This innovative nonsurgical treatment helps fight skin laxity and generates collagen production, giving patients a more healthy, youthful appearance. Its popularity has soared in the media due to the fact that it provides impressive results without the need for knives or needles.
How does Ultherapy work?
Ultherapy is a safe, nonsurgical skin tightening treatment. It uses targeted ultrasound energy to penetrate deep below the skin without harming the outer layers. This stimulates the body’s natural process of creating new collagen and strengthening weakened collagen, giving a smoother, more youthful appearance.
What areas of the body can Ultherapy treat?
Ultherapy mostly treats skin around the face, where laxity is common. It can lift skin on the neck, under the chin, above the eyebrows, and can even smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.
What should you expect during treatment and recovery?
Every Ultherapy treatment is different, but a treatment for the face and neck takes about 60–90 minutes. You will feel the energy going into the tissue, but this sensation only lasts the length of your treatment. Dr. Jewell and his team make sure that their patients are as comfortable as possible.
Your skin will be slightly red immediately after your treatment, but that will fade within a few hours. You may also experience mild tenderness, which is a normal indicator that the healing process is underway. You’ll be able to return to all your daily activities within 24 hours.
How long will it take to see results?
Results vary from patient to patient, but they will appear 2 to 3 months after your treatment, and collagen will continue to build for up to 12 months. This means that your skin will continue to gradually lift and tighten. However, your skin will also continue to age, so you may need to schedule annual touch-ups to maintain your results.
Ultherapy is a great option for patients with mild to medium skin laxity who aren’t ready for surgery. It’s different from other antiaging treatments on the market, such as KYBELLA® or intense pulsed light (IPL). In our next post, we’ll dive into the differences between these therapies.
