Our plastic surgery patients know that the decision to get a cosmetic treatment like Ultherapy is not a small one. Here in Oregon, you want to be as prepared as possible. Whether you’re wondering about the buzz around Ultherapy or how it differs from other treatments, it helps to be informed. These frequently asked questions will get you ready for your consultation so you know what to ask your plastic surgeon:

  • How much does Ultherapy cost?

Ultherapy treatments vary in price depending on the treatment area or areas. Geographic region also influences price. Because each treatment is unique, it is best to request a consultation with your plastic surgeon to get an accurate quote.

  • What can I expect during my treatment?

Every patient is different, but a face and neck treatment will take around 60–90 minutes. Smaller areas will take less time. During your treatment, you’ll feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited under the skin. This is a good sign, as it means that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort varies from person to person, and our team takes measures to make sure that your treatment is as pleasant as possible. Any discomfort will subside once the treatment ends.

After your treatment, your skin may be red, but this should disappear within a few hours. Tenderness in the treatment area is also normal, as it indicates that the healing process is underway. Some bruising may also occur. You can help prevent this by avoiding blood thinning supplements and medications the week leading up to your treatment, and not consuming alcohol in the 24 hours leading up to your treatment.

  • What results can I expect?

Results will vary, but typically patients start seeing results 2–3 months after treatment. The skin continues lifting and tightening, as collagen is still being produced up to 12 months after treatment. However, your skin will continue the natural process of aging, so annual touch-up treatments may be necessary to maintain results.

Dr. Mark Jewell’s expertise with ultrasound technology is vast. He likes that it is scientifically proven to stimulate collagen production. In fact, research shows that patients who received Ultherapy had a 42% increase in collagen production.
