The publication of Dr. Mark Jewell’s latest book, “The Contemporary Atlas of Aesthetic Breast Surgery,” showcases our own Dr. Jewell’s expertise in cosmetic breast surgery procedures such as breast augmentation and breast lifts. The Oregon board-certified plastic surgeon collaborated with a colleague to co-edit the atlas, which contains approximately 25 chapters.

The aesthetic breast surgery atlas—the first publication of its kind to offer a comprehensive look at cosmetic breast surgery techniques—includes contributions from 37 authors worldwide. Each chapter contains expert advice about how to produce world-class results for patients. Dr. Jewell collaborated with Professor Lee L. Q. Pu, M.D. from the University of California, Davis, in editing the atlas.

Dr. Jewell, a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Oregon Health Science University, is the author of approximately 110 peer-reviewed scientific publications, books, book chapters, and editorials. As many of our Jewell Plastic Surgery patients know, Dr. Jewell is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on cosmetic breast surgery and patient safety.

“The atlas is an excellent reference book for plastic surgery trainees, young plastic surgeons in practice, and even senior plastic surgeons who want to learn more contemporary techniques in aesthetic plastic surgery,” says Dr. Jewell.

As a leader in the field, Dr. Jewell has published several peer-reviewed research studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of Betadine (povidone iodine) in killing bacteria that can cause infection or capsular contracture around breast implants.

Safe procedures have always and will continue to be high priority in Dr. Jewell’s practice. He prefers to an inframammary incision as it reduces the likelihood of infection. In fact, in 43 years of practice, he has had no incidence of infection.

Readers will recognize highly regarded surgeons from the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America who contributed to the book.

The Atlas has a large amount of supplemental online video content submitted by the authors to give great insight into techniques.
