Jewell Plastic Surgery is proud to present BRA DAY 2014!

October 15, 2014 is national Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day “BRA DAY”!

BRA Day Closing the Loop LogoThis year’s theme is BRAve Faces. We recognize there are many faces of breast cancer and a unique journey for every person facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

Breast cancer does not discriminate and while every journey is unique-all breast cancer patients have the right to know their reconstruction options prior to deciding the path they choose for surgery.

Please join us Jewell Plastic Surgery  on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at The TEN on Coburg. We will be celebrating Survivors of Breast Cancer and remembering the ones we have lost by lighting up the sky with lanterns.

Many women eligible for Breast Reconstruction following a breast cancer diagnosis are not being informed of their options. It is crucial to speak with both a plastic surgeon and an oncologist before deciding on a specific surgery.

Breast recon pre-opBreast recon post-opAccording to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons statistics only 19% of women understand the timing of their treatment, and the timing of their decision to undergo reconstruction, impacts their options and results and only 23% know the wide range of reconstruction options available. That’s just not acceptable.

Throughout the month of October, we will be collecting donations for the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation. Donations of $25.00 or more will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to the Jewell District Medical Spa.

The Plastic Surgery Foundation is the research and philanthropic arm of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The PSF works to provide support to the plastic surgery sciences through investment and volunteerism. Research funded by the PSF has lead to groundbreaking advances in breast reconstruction, limb transplantation, fat grafting and stem cell transfer that have touched lives around the world.

The Blinky Rings are back! Purchase a “Blinky Ring” to light up the night and all proceeds will be donated to to the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation.
