Our Medical Spa
At the Jewell District Medical Spa and Plastic Surgery Center, we believe that it is never too early to begin the journey toward healthier, youthful looking skin.
Facial Rejuvenation Surgery Overview
Each patient is unique with their individual needs for facial rejuvenation through surgical procedures such as face lift, neck lift, eyelid surgery, and brow lift. Dr. Jewell has extensive experience in all forms of facial rejuvenation surgery. He has published book chapters and has taught the latest form facial rejuvenation procedures such as the MACS Lift (minimal access cranial suspension) and use of VASER® lipoplasty to reduce fullness in the chin and neck region. The nose which is the most central and prominent feature of the face is often a major factor in defining harmony and balance among facial features. Dr. Jewell believes that a rhinoplasty can change your profile and sometimes your entire face. Otoplasty surgery is performed to change the shape, size and predominance of the ears.
Facelift
A face lift or rhytidectomy can be limited or full and each patient receives a unique lift that is based on the individual’s anatomy. Face lifts smooth the loose skin on your face while tightening the under surfaces of the cheeks, jowls and neck. Dr. Jewell is well versed in the classic rhytidectomy and the MACS lift. Newer types of short scar face lift procedures offer patients more rapid recovery and greater flexibility in achieving a natural outcome of facial rejuvenation. This offers patients the opportunity to have surgical procedures customized for their individual needs, while not having telltale signs of unnatural face tightening. Tightening of the neck and neck banding can be accomplished at the time of face lift procedures.
Eyelid Surgery
Eyes show age faster than other facial features typically. Cosmetic eyelid surgery known as a blepharoplasty removes the wrinkled skin and bags that can make you look tired or sad. For many people squinting and photo damage from the sun ages us quickly and for others there is a real hereditary component. Dr. Jewell performs eyelid surgery designed to remove excess upper or lower eyelid skin and fat bags; this procedure restores a more crisp edge to the lids and opens up the eye once again. For some patients, simply treating the eyelids alone is an excellent starting point for facial rejuvenation. Eyelid surgery is very suitable for both men and women to refresh the eyelid region and to give a more rested appearance.
Brow-lift Surgery
Brow lift surgery offers patients the ability to reshape the drooping found in the outside the eyebrow region and to slightly elevate the inner eyebrow portion. While many patients are satisfied with the use of BOTOX® to control wrinkles and frowning of the inner brow, others seek surgery to elevate the outside brow region. When the eye brows are droopy and lower than the orbital rim a blepharoplasty will not render the best outcome to open the eyes. This can be accomplished with either endoscopic brow surgery or a lateral brow lift that has incisions hid inconspicuously in the temple region.
Nose Surgery
The goal of a rhinoplasty is to reshape your nose so that it compliments your other facial features. Each rhinoplasty operation is individualized to the patients needs regarding reshaping the tip, narrowing the nasal bridge or diminishing the fullness in the nasal hump. Dr. Jewell performs open rhinoplasty procedures. The earliest recommended age for rhinoplasty is in the mid-teenage years when the nose is fully developed.
Ear Surgery
Ear surgery (Otoplasty) offers patients with prominent ears the ability to reshape this important facial feature. While this procedure can be performed on children and teens, Dr. Jewell recommends that patients seeking correction of prominent ears be at least ten years of age to ensure that the ears have fully developed. Adults also find value in the otoplasty, as many have delayed having this operation. The otoplasty involves surgical incisions and special techniques to fold prominent ears along with managing the prominence in the cup-shaped portion of the ear, known as the concha. Depending on a patient’s preference, the otoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.
