Dr. Jewell's Profile
Aesthetic plastic surgeon Mark L. Jewell, MD, of Eugene, Oregon, served as President of the American Society for Aesthetic
Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) in 2005-06. He also serves as a Governor for the National Endowment for Plastic Surgery and as a member
of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Jewell is a former member of the Board of Directors for the American Society
of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
In 2003, ASAPS awarded Dr. Jewell the Tiffany Award for best scientific presentation. He held the
prestigious Joyce Kaye Lectureship from 1998 to 2004 and has taught numerous scientific courses and authored multiple scientific
journal articles and book chapters as well as the ASPS Patient Consultation Resource Guide for informed-consent.
Dr. Jewell has made many innovations in how plastic surgery is practiced today in areas of face, breast, and body contouring surgery
in addition to tissue fillers and neurotoxin research. He is a key opinion leader in how new products and devices are being brought to
the market in order to improve patient outcomes and safety. Dr. Jewell’s contributions to aesthetic surgery have been recognized by his
colleagues who awarded him the Tiffany Award for best scientific paper that was given by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Mark Jewell has taught other plastic surgeons in annual meetings and symposia for many years. He also is involved
with the education of young plastic surgeons as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Oregon Health Science University and
as a Traveling Professor of Plastic Surgery through the Aesthetic Society. Currently Dr. Jewell is the treasurer of the Aesthetic Society
Education and Research Foundation and a Governor of the National Endowment for Plastic Surgery. Dr. Jewell has published approximately 55
peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.
